How To Build A Business And Not Just A Blog!

Blogging. Weblog. Online journal. All of these have become online buzz words. Thanks to the increasing popularity of blogs. The past few years have witnessed a proliferation of blogs and bloggers on the net. In fact there was a time when it was reported that a blog was added to the blogosphere every second of the every.

Unbelievable, right?

But why was this so?

A couple of reasons of course!

First, blogs have been found to be search engine friendly. The discovery that simply setting up a blog excites the search engines, who will gladly index them often, got internet marketers setting up blogs to first drive traffic to their websites. This soon caught on as the money making potential of blogs became apparent.

Second, creating a blogs is not technologically tasking. Blogs are just the quickest track to building a website. The stress of knowing and understanding HTML before building a website is removed when you build a blog instead. This simplicity really appealed to many people and so even 7-year olds are running blogs on the net today!

But times have changed

Unfortunately, not every one of these blogs is able to survive considering the competition that is in the market right now. The days of easy success blogging are gone. With the increase in the number of bloggers making money with blogs also came the challenging of getting enough readers to make the kind of money you desire. This is why is important that if you want to succeed as a pro-blogger you need to develop the spirit of an entrepreneur.

Blogging to make money these days is serious business. If you want to be a professional blogger then you need to know that you should aim to build a business and not just a blog. Running your blog with an entrepreneur’s mindset will give you more success. As a business you should know that it isn’t merely your source of income – it is your means for taking control of the kind of life you want for yourself.

Now building a business is similar to building a house. There are several different steps you need to follow to have a house built. From the foundation to the roofing a lot of planning and effort is involved. In this article I want to give you a few tips on how to truly build a business out your blog.

1. Decide From The On-Set What Direction You’ll Be Going

It’s unfortunate that there are many people online who want to jump into the blogging bandwagon without any preparation. To this people the wise saying, “look before you leap” has no meaning. If your blog is going to be your online business then it is important that you get a clear idea what direction you want to go. Set your goal and then shot for it!

2. Be Creative But Don’t Seek To Re-Invent The Wheel!

Every one of us has a creative flare in him/her. And your blog is definitely a place your will want to be yourself. You’re free to run it any way you want. You’ve the freedom to post whatever you want. This is something good. However, instead of being proud and wanting to set a world record for your creativity, it will be of great help to you if you’ll rather seek out what is already working then building on it. Study what successful business strategies the experts are using and mimic them. Seminars are a good way of learning from experts. Take what you learn and modify them to suit the needs of your business instead of creating new ones.

3. Get Help Through Mentor(s)

Do you really need a mentor to build and run a blog? The answer to that question is a big yes! Remember that what you’re building is not just a place for some personal rambling. You’re not just chronicling your thoughts. You’re building a business. Therefore seeking help in every area of building a successful business is a necessity.

4. Be Financially Committed

A lot of people who jump into the blogging train are always looking for freebies. Of course this not a bad thing. There is so much of it online these days. However, when it comes to making money building your own business you must be prepared to invest some money to get to where you want to go. When you’re financially committed your motivation to succeed will increase as you’ll aim to earn back your investment.

5. Remember To Stay Green

The internet business world is an ever changing world. It’s a dynamic market. To keep abreast with the latest ideas and trends you need to keep your eyes open. Invest in yourself through training programs. Spending some money on seminars can be well worth it if you can pick up even a single new idea. Just learning about new ideas and information is not enough. So many great ideas never materialize. To stay green you’ll need to put in to action the new knowledge you learnt. The longer you wait, the more susceptible to FEAR you will become.
